Challenge
Situation: The existing walls could not bear the horizontal soil loads both from a structural and geotechnical point of view.
Challenges: The soil was very rocky, making helical piers ineffective. The access was very difficult above a pristine desert habitat making staging difficult as the area of work needed to be returned to its original condition.
Solution
Solution: Build temporary walls for equipment access. Reinforce walls with FRP. Install 30mm Titan Epoxy Coated Hollow bars, and grout the soil behind the walls. Break down temporary walls at the conclusion of the work and restore natural habitat.
Conclusion: The work was accomplished ahead of schedule. Pull testing of micro piles exceeded requirements by double. The environment was restored to its original condition.
